LavaCon's New Free Resource Page

Jack Molisani is creating a resource page for free information about technical communication management. The first offering is up already and Jack is looking for original articles and pointers to existing material.

The first article proposes a methodology that includes a list of 12 key questions you should be thinking about before entering into negotiations. "Developing a Negotiation Strategy: The Key to Better Deals" was contributed by Peggy Gerace-Roosa and Dr. Steven Roosa.

"Before beginning any negotiation, you should always try to set aside some time to specifically think through your negotiation strategy. This can be done by writing down your answers to the following questions..." To read the article, click Developing a Negotiation Strategy: The Key to Better Deals.

Back to Business Cards

I started out printing my own business cards because my business was new and I was tinkering. I adjusted the cards for specific events. It worked.

In the last year I've been printing without even looking at the source file, so I guess I was happy with the card. Truthfully, I didn't think about it. Now I'm thinking about it again thanks to this blog entry: Business Card Best Practices.

There's more burried in the comments, too.

"Triple check for typos. Have someone else triple check for typos. Wait overnight and then check for typos again in the morning..."

"...say something about the business card when you hand it to someone. This gets them to look at the card and while talking with you, it helps associate the person with the card."
